Using Green Chemicals with Carpet Cleaning Equipment

Portable Commercial Carpet Cleaner

Carpet cleaning equipment should be used with a good quality cleaning detergent. To clean carpets, detergent is first sprayed on the carpet. Be particularly careful with stains. Soak them well in the detergent solution for a few minutes. Use the wand of the carpet cleaner to agitate the carpet as you clean; this dislodges dirt. Once the stains and dirt are removed, the wand extracts the dirty water.

Carpet cleaning equipment can be heated or non-heated. Non-heated machines do not have any heating equipment. They are ideal for cleaning dust, dander, pet hair, and mud. Many carpet cleaners such as Daimer’s XTreme Power® XPC-5700 can use preheated water to clean grease and stains when used with a powerful carpet cleaning detergent.

Hot water machines are best for removing grease, deep stains, and odors from carpets. Daimer®’s carpet cleaning equipment such as XTreme Power® XPH-5900i heats water to as high as 210°F in five minutes. This machine has pressure levels up to 100 psi. The air flow is about 100 cfm and it has a powerful water lift of 100 inches. Daimer®’s carpet cleaning machines feature low flow technology. This helps carpets dry in as little as two hours.

Harsh detergents damage the carpet and carpet cleaning equipment. They are dangerous to the operator’s health. Harsh bleaching solutions such as chlorine often lead to discoloration of carpets, and they corrode carpet cleaning machine’s parts. Therefore, Daimer® has developed an eco-friendly detergent. Eco-Green® Carpet Care and Upholstery Cleaner is a non-toxic, wholly plant-derived product. It is non-corrosive, non-flammable, and non-toxic.

How Carpet Cleaning Equipment Removes Pet Stains

Low-Flow Heated Carpet Steam Cleaner

There are two methods to remove pet stains: using carpet cleaning equipment or using steam cleaners. The most common method is to use carpet cleaners, as these machines are made to specifically remove stains from carpets and upholstery. The following information is for using carpet cleaning equipment to remove pet stains.

Use Heated Machines
Carpet cleaners are available as heated machines and non-heated machines. For removing pet stains, it is better to use heated machines. Such machines from Daimer® can provide an output temperature up to 210°F. This relatively high temperature output can not only dissolve dirt residue but also remove the foul odor associated with pet stains. Another advantage of Daimer®’s carpet cleaning equipment is low flow technology. Many machines, including the XTreme Power® XPH-5800T, allow carpets to dry in as little as two hours.

How These Machines Work
Surfaces should first be pre-sprayed with a cleaning solution. Daimer® recommends using their Eco-Green® Carpet Care & Upholstery Cleaner as a safe alternative to toxic chemicals. After the carpet pre-soaks, carpet extractors function inject a mixture of water and cleaning solution into soft surfaces, like carpets, mats, and upholstery. This mixture filters onto the surface and breaks the bond between the surface and the stain. Then, the operator agitates the surface with a wand attached to the machine. The agitation leads to the creation of dirt residue, which is easily extracted by the machine.
